Crocheted
Long Stocking Cap Tutorial
**If you use this
pattern in a blog post or sell any hats from this pattern, please give me
credit and link back to this tutorial.
Thanks!**
Hat Dimensions
Approximate Length – 36
inches
Fits head approximately
20-22 inches.
**This is the first time I
have ever written a crocheting tutorial.
It has not been tested and I am sure there are mistakes. Please just have fun with it, and feel free
to notify me if you feel you’ve found a mistake.**
Pattern Notes
I used an H hook and
medium weight yarn.
Chain at the beginning of
each round counts as the first stitch.
The number in parenthesis
is the number of stitches in that round.
Most people chain 3 when
beginning a double crochet round.
I tend to have really tight double crochets so I chained 2 instead and
will write the pattern as I did it.
Join each round with a
slip stitch.
The length of this hat can
be easily adjusted by reducing the number of rounds of a particular stitch
count (especially at the beginning), or increasing the number of rounds of a
particular stitch count.

I really must learn to crochet. Thanks for sharing this tutorial...
ReplyDeleteI have been search for a pattern like this! Thank you, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHow many of each row did you do for each color?
ReplyDeleteI don't honestly remember, and I don't have these hats in my possession anymore. But I believe for this one I did something like 8 or 9 of the red and black and 3 of the white.
DeleteLove your hats but have not been able to download and will have to look at hand copying in the future. I just was blessed with twin grandsons and am always looking for cool and cute ideas, Thanks for sharing. God bless your "joys" in life.
ReplyDeleteIs this pattern for an adult hat or child?
ReplyDeleteVeronica, the hat fits head sizes 20-22" approximately. I made them for 10-12 year old boys with this pattern. Hope that helps!
DeleteI wish I was better at Crochet terminology! I love this hat pattern!
ReplyDeleteI just made this, it only took me an hour and a half for my fiancee and it is awesome! He loves it! This was so easy and thank you so much for sharing this. I have been looking for a stocking hat like this for a very long time. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteYay! This is my number one viewed post and pinned item, but you're the first to let me know you've actually done it! I'm so glad you were able to understand my tutorial and it worked out well for me. Thank you! You made my night!
DeleteThank you for posting this pattern! Everyone is out to make money on things like this. I love that you are so nice to just put it out there! I just made 2 of these but I stopped on row 58 because they were for new born babies. They turned out awesome so thank you again!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. I am looking forward to doing this one!
ReplyDeleteMade a hat using this pattern, but with tons of dark colors. Gave it as a white elephant gift for x-mas last year and they loved it. Had a request to make one in the colors that would match his Harley. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what I was searching for!! I'm stitching it up right now for party later today. Thanks so much!
